THE PROCESS
Ups, downs, rejection and why timing matters
When I decided to build this, I didn’t start with manufacturing.
I started with observation.
If I was going to create something different, I needed to understand what already existed, not just in India, but globally.
So I began studying car perfumes from different markets like the USA, China and others.
What I found was disappointing.
Different names.
Different packaging.
Slight design changes.
But fundamentally, the same thing.
Hanging paper tags.
Clip-on plastics.
Heavy synthetic fragrances.
It felt like the industry was repeating itself.
That’s when I stopped looking for “better brands” and started asking a different question.
What if the design itself is wrong?
The Diffuser Idea
The real issue wasn’t only fragrance.
It was control.
I didn’t want a perfume that keeps releasing fragrance whether I want it or not.
I wanted something intentional.
Something that gives fragrance when you choose.
That’s when the idea came.
What if there’s a diffuser pod that holds the fragrance when sprayed, releases it subtly and doesn’t disturb the driver’s view?
No swinging bottle.
No hanging distraction.
No visual noise.
Every car has a sun visor.
Different sizes, yes. But every car has one.
That became the base idea.
A rectangular diffuser pod mounted on the sun visor. Secured with an elastic strap adjustable for different car models.
Simple in theory.
Extremely difficult in reality.
30 to 50 Failures
We failed.
Not once.
Not twice.
But repeatedly.
The pod shape didn’t sit right.
The strap was too loose.
Too tight.
Material felt cheap.
Fit wasn’t universal.
Finish didn’t look premium.
Every correction created a new problem.
At one point, we had gone through 30 to 50 design alterations.
And that was only the diffuser.
The Fragrance Battle
Finding the right fragrance was harder.
I met around 15 manufacturers.
I explained what I wanted.
Not overpowering.
Not typical “car freshener.”
Not headache-inducing.
Something refined. Something that feels like a space, not an air spray.
Most of them said the same thing.
“These are not car fragrances.”
“This won’t work in this category.”
“Stick to what already sells.”
That’s when you realize something.
Markets often reward repetition. Innovation feels risky.
But I wasn’t building this to copy what already exists.
After multiple rejections, I finally met a manufacturer who understood the concept.
He didn’t dismiss the idea.
He gave me 18 samples to test at the factory.
Out of those, I selected five.
The first collection:
Revv Rose
Sun Down
Mystic Wood
Vanilla Touch
Water Floww
These weren’t selected randomly.
Every fragrance was tested with real people. Friends. Drivers. Family.
The feedback was consistent.
“It smells different.”
“It feels premium.”
“It’s not too strong.”
That’s when I knew we were getting closer.
The Hidden Struggles No One Talks About
People see products.
They don’t see:
Packaging failures
Glass bottle sourcing issues
Box size miscalculations
Website errors
Payment gateway delays
Bank documentation
Capital pressure
And money.
Money makes everything possible and stressful at the same time.
There were moments where it felt overwhelming.
Inventory costs.
Manufacturing adjustments.
Design upgrades.
But once you commit, you don’t retreat at the first obstacle.
You solve.
Step by step.
The Aluminum Decision
After dozens of diffuser failures, another realization came.
Why make it plastic?
If this is meant for cars people love, why compromise on material?
So we pivoted again.
The diffuser pod is now being manufactured in aluminum.
Premium finish.
Better durability.
Better feel.
Better aesthetic.
That decision delayed production.
Mould failures. Manufacturing trials. Adjustments.
Which is why, at launch, we’re introducing the perfumes first.
The aluminum diffuser pods will follow in the next one to three months.
Because rushing would contradict everything this brand stands for.
Timing
Looking back, nothing happened instantly.
Car in January.
Happy in February.
Decision in April.
Failures across months.
Everything unfolded in sequence.
The right idea came after frustration.
The right manufacturer came after rejection.
The right product came after dozens of mistakes.
I don’t believe in overnight success.
I believe in alignment.
When effort, timing and conviction meet, things move.
Gratitude
Through all of this, my friends and family stood behind me.
Encouragement matters more than people realize.
When designs fail 40 times, you need someone reminding you why you started.
This brand is personal.
Not because it’s emotional.
But because it was built patiently.
FragTawny Mist isn’t here to compete loudly.
It’s here to exist intentionally.
And this is still just the beginning.
